Under the Lone Star Skies
Texas has become both my home and my greatest source of artistic inspiration. From sweeping skies and native wildflowers to rocky hillsides and quiet prairies, these landscapes continually reveal new patterns of light, color, and life. While my earlier work focused primarily on the richness of the land, this collection turns more deliberately toward the expansive Texas sky—its ever-changing light, atmosphere, and sense of openness that define the character of the landscape.
Under the Lone Star Sky brings together paintings created through watercolor batik on mulberry paper. Combining influences from my Korean heritage with years of exploring the Texas landscape, I seek to capture not only what I see, but also the sense of peace, resilience, and connection that nature offers. The sky becomes more than a backdrop; it is an active presence that unifies the land below and evokes the vastness and spirit of Texas. I hope these paintings invite viewers to pause, look closely, and experience the quiet beauty of Texas beneath its endless sky.
